Elisabeth Leyser is born 1994 in Gällivare and grew up in Länna outside Uppsala, Sweden. She completed her final year at the University College of Opera in Stockholm in June 2019.

Elisabeth has studied with the American baritone Robert Hyman since 2016. Prior to her studies in Stockholm she studied opera and musical theatre at Härnösand Opera Studio/Markaryd Folkhögskola.

Previous engagements included her debut with Norrlandsoperan as Hänsel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, and Flosshilde in Das Rheingold at Vattnäs Konsertlada. 2020 she sung the role of Brangäne in Tristand and Isolde at the Folkopera in Stockholm. During the autumn of 2018 Elisabeth sung the role of Kate Pinkerton Madama Butterfly at the Royal Swedish Opera, where she also took part in their New Year’s Concert. She did her graduation production as Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at Wermland Opera in Karlstad in the Spring of 2019.
 
During her studies at the University College of Opera, Elisabeth has sung the roles of Gertrude Hamlet (Thomas) and Hänsel Hänsel und Gretel. Outside of the college, for Södertälje Opera, she has sung Orlovsky Die Fledermaus and Romeo I Capuleti e i Montecchi (Bellini).

Current and forthcoming engagements include Adolfine in Lars Johan Werle's opera Tintomara with Läckö Slott Opera, Barn 2 in the World-premiere of Karólína Eiríksdótter’s Bly for Piteå Kammaropera, and Brangäne in Tristan und Isolde for Smålands Musik & Teater. 
 
She is a recipient of the Anders Wall Giresta Award 2019, a Bayreuth scholarship from the Gothenburg Wagner Society 2019, Kungliga Musikaliska Akademien National scholarship 2018 and 2019, The Folkoperas scholarship 2020, Musikens hus scholarship 2021, as well as a grant from the Kerstin Meyer & Björn Bexelius fund at the Friends of the University College of Opera.
